Never Give Up: How Trying One More Time Can Amazingly Change Your Life

Try again, at least one more time.

It is often true that success comes just after a period of temptation to give up. Many people give up without knowing they COULD HAVE achieved their goal IF they had listened to the intuitive voice and continued their pursuit. If they just tried one more time.

Remember this story?

Luke 5:4-7 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.” When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break, so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats so that they began to sink.

They worked hard all night, doing everything they could to catch the fish, but did not reap the fruits of their labor. They could have said, “It makes no sense! We’ve tried it already and it didn’t work!” Nevertheless, Simon was open to doing what Jesus directed them to do. And the abundance of fish was beyond what they could imagine!

When I think of my journey, the answer to my prayer – my life’s beautiful transformation – did not happen suddenly, and it did not just appear at my doorstep. I had to:

#1 to be persistent in my pursuit.

#2 to do what the Lord directed me to do.

After the car accident, I aspired to restore my life, and my first goal was to walk again with artificial legs. But after two years of training to walk despite excruciating pain, bruises, and wounds, there was a point when I realized I could no longer do this. My dream was just not possible. My family and I tried everything and put 101% effort into this without results. I was in despair. I hit a brick wall which I couldn’t break through.

When I least expected and was struggling with thoughts of depression that were pushing me to give up on my dream, the Lord prompted me to look for help worldwide. It didn’t make sense. Realistic thinking said, “And then what, Lord? I don’t know English well. And I do not have the money to pay for it. What’s the point??”

But these are human reasonings. The Lord had a plan that I was unaware of, and my obedience was necessary to fulfill that plan. I needed to cooperate with the Lord – to do exactly what He directed me to do.

When He said, “Now go and do research,” I did. Of course, a language barrier showed up as an obstacle. But my inspiration was so strong that I didn’t stop explaining to myself why it could not be done. I found a way—I took our only dictionary (there was no Google yet and no online translations at the time)  and translated nearly every other word so I could understand it. While researching, the Lord placed a few companies on my heart, especially one from California.

When I accomplished Step #1 – research on the internet – the Lord directed me to take Step #2 – write letters to companies I liked. It was after midnight when I received His direction, and I was drained. My first reaction was, “Oh, I already turned off my computer and got into bed…I am exhausted; maybe tomorrow I will do it.” But the feeling was urging me to do it right then. So I did.  I got up, turned on the computer, found those companies in my search history, and wrote the letters. After I finished, I felt a sense of peace.

What a surprise it was to receive a letter from the company that I particularly liked! Furthermore, this prosthetic specialist was genuinely interested in helping me! About three weeks later, we met in Istanbul, where he provided training to their local specialists and adjusted my prostheses at no cost. Then, he traveled at his expense to Lithuania and made comfortable prosthetic legs. And then, he invited me to California and made new prosthetic legs for me as a gift.

What a miracle! But it took tenacity and my obedience to the Lord’s direction every step of the way to experience this incredible testimony.

Then, after I returned home to Lithuania with my first goal accomplished, the Lord directed me to take Step #3—return to California and establish myself there. It was crazy! I had a severe physical limitation, no place to live or work, and absolutely no means to make it happen. But I trusted the Lord. And I returned to California.

That was a turning point in my life toward its restoration. With the help of people who assisted me, diligent work and God’s faithfulness to His promise, California became my home. I am self-sufficient and live a meaningful and fulfilling life despite my traumatic injuries. I received the beautiful answer to my prayer, and it’s much better than I could have imagined!

But again, it didn’t drop out of the blue sky on my lap. It took my obedience and cooperation to receive His answer to my prayer.

I encourage you – don’t give up. Try again. Don’t allow obstacles to stop you, but find a way to overcome them.

Take one step at a time. Listen to that gentle, quiet, intuitive voice from your spirit – and do exactly what He directs you to do.

1 Corinthians 6:17: But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” Listen to your intuitive voice that comes from your spirit – it is the Lord’s direction.

Do what He directs you because He has a plan and sees the whole picture while you don’t. Don’t allow fear of “What if” to hold you back. Just trust Him and cooperate with Him to receive a blessing that He has prepared for you.

Be strong. Be determined and relentless. Be unstoppable.
